Siddiqah (2024)

Inspired by the quirky cast of Duolingo, I created myself in Adobe Illustrator. I took out the biggest attributes of my physical appearance such as my red glasses and long hair and exaggerated them while ensuring that they complemented the character.

My City

What started as me following a tutorial to familiarize myself with Illustrator turned into a small city being created as I recreated local buildings that I’ve been to as well as original buildings. My city is continuing to grow as I’m inspired by different locations that I visit.

Red

In my first experiment with character design, I created a character, Red, inspired by my red glasses that I can’t see without. I used a reference photo to make a sketch and then illustrated her in Adobe’s Illustrator. Her body type is influenced by Wilt from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends in that she is fairly tall and skinny with a wide head and no arms. She sports a simplified pair of black Converse high tops, shoes that I am also known for wearing. I gave Red long eyelashes so that she can be identified as a girl, a feature I noticed used in classic Disney films for female characters.

Q&A

While working on branding for my hand-made jewelry brand called Esenay, I decided to make icons for the covers of my Instagram highlights. They can be seen on my profile here. I created these icons in Illustrator and as part of my brand’s image, I kept in mind to keep elements consistent. I also made sure there was enough contrast for easy accessibility to see the images clearly.

Promotional Material

I make different promotional materials for my in-person events in the form of printed flyers and digital flyers for Instagram. I use color pallets that match the aesthetics of my Instagram feed as well as the events. Using Adobe Illustrator, I incorporate my logo into the designs and use assets that I draw myself and source from Adobe.

Logo and Letterhead

I created a full logo and symbol for a client who was starting a business. I generated several ideas, leaning into hidden imagery. I then used the selected logo to make a letterhead for official documents. I used Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat to develop the designs and imported the letterhead design into Word to create a Word document template that was ready to be used.

Dairy Queen Promotional Material

As part of my social media management for a local Dairy Queen, I designed flyers to be handed out to customers for a giveaway as well as a post for their Instagram. Using brand guidelines and provided images, I used Adobe Illustrator to create this promotional material which increased their engagement on social media.

I had a client with a small business where they educated others on Applied Behavior Analysis and they requested business cards. I created three designs using components provided such as the logo and color palette. I used Canva in conjunction with Illustrator to create layouts and icons so that the client had many options to choose from.

I created pages for the Sunrise Police Department’s 2022 annual report in InDesign while also using Canva for certain graphics. I worked with a Public Information Officer and the Chief of Police to take assets given to me and present them in an organized manner. I assisted with setting margins, bleeds, trim lines, and borders in Acrobat as well as file management and archival.

Working with the Sunrise Police Department, I designed a pamphlet for their Law Enforcement Explorer Program in InDesign and Illustrator.

Law Enforcement Explorer Program Instagram Carousel

To accompany the pamphlet I designed for the Sunrise Police Department’s Law Enforcement Explorer Program, I created a seamless carousel for their Instagram account. These four images, when posted on Instagram, look like one seamless image as you swipe through them. I used Illustrator to create these four panels, but I worked with assets in InDesign to match the brand guidelines.

Missing Individuals

I illustrated these four icons for the Sunrise Police Department’s Instagram highlight covers. They can be viewed here. Using reference photos, I created these in Illustrator to accompany content that the Public Information Officer wanted to keep public in the highlights such as information about open positions, safety tips, reminders for community events, and missing persons flyers.
